🔧 Troubleshooting

Please check the following:

  1. HealthKit Permission: Go to Settings > Health > Data Access and Devices > StrideMap and ensure "Steps" permission is enabled
  2. iPhone Step Counting: Verify that your iPhone is recording steps in the Health app
  3. Time Period: Make sure you have step data for the selected time period
  4. App Restart: Close and reopen StrideMap
  5. Device Restart: Restart your iPhone/iPad

Possible causes and solutions:

  • iOS Version: StrideMap requires iOS 18.5 or later
  • Health App Setup: Complete the initial Health app setup if not done
  • Restrictions: Check if Health data access is restricted in Screen Time or device management
  • Reinstallation: Try deleting and reinstalling the app
  1. Update to the latest version of StrideMap
  2. Update iOS to the latest version
  3. Restart your device
  4. Free up storage space if low
  5. Delete and reinstall the app
  6. If the problem persists, contact support

Step counting accuracy can be affected by:

  • Device Factors: iPhone model, placement, and motion sensors
  • Movement Type: Walking style, activity type, and environment
  • Third-party Apps: Other fitness apps may provide different counts
  • Calibration: HealthKit automatically calibrates based on your movement patterns

StrideMap displays exactly what HealthKit provides, using the same data as the Health app.

🔒 Privacy & Security

Absolutely. StrideMap is designed with privacy as the top priority:

  • All data is processed only on your device
  • No data is sent to external servers
  • No third-party services are used
  • No ads or tracking
  • No data sharing with others

For details, see our Privacy Policy.

StrideMap only accesses step count data from HealthKit:

  • Read-only access: Cannot modify your health data
  • Steps only: No access to other health information
  • Real-time retrieval: Data is fetched when you use the app
  • No storage: Data is not permanently stored in the app

Yes, you can revoke access anytime:

  1. Open iPhone Settings
  2. Tap "Health"
  3. Tap "Data Access and Devices"
  4. Tap "StrideMap"
  5. Turn off "Steps" permission

Once revoked, StrideMap will no longer be able to access your step data.

⚙️ Features & Functions

StrideMap uses a scientifically-based conversion rate:

  • Conversion Rate: 1 step = 0.8 meters
  • Formula: Distance (km) = Steps × 0.8 ÷ 1000
  • Basis: Based on average adult stride length research
  • Simplicity: Fixed rate for consistent calculations

This provides a reasonable estimate for milestone comparisons.

StrideMap supports:

  • Japanese: Full localization including milestone names
  • English: Complete translation of all content
  • Automatic Detection: Language is set based on iOS system language
  • In-App Switching: Change language within the app settings

Yes! StrideMap is compatible with iPad:

  • Full Compatibility: Supports iPadOS 18.5 or later
  • All Orientations: Portrait and landscape modes
  • Multitasking: Split View and Slide Over support
  • Same Features: Identical functionality to iPhone

Note: iPad step counting depends on wearing your iPhone or using Apple Watch.

Currently, StrideMap comes with 78 pre-defined milestones. Custom milestone creation is not available in the current version, but it's a feature we're considering for future updates.

The existing milestones cover a wide range of distances and interests, from local landmarks to global adventures.
